ABOUT CMA
The Computational Media and Arts (CMA) Thrust at HKUST(GZ) is an interdisciplinary research and teaching unit that explores the intersection of art, technology, and design. Drawing on the university's strengths in science and engineering, CMA bridges creative practice with computational thinking to address the cultural and technological challenges of our time.
Faculty and students work across a wide spectrum of fields—including creative coding, AI art, VR/AR, digital fabrication, sound and electronic media, and interactive storytelling—producing work that spans both artistic innovation and technical rigor. CMA is home to internationally recognized scholars, artists, and creative technologists, and fosters a vibrant, collaborative environment for experimentation, critical inquiry, and public engagement.
Whether through exhibitions, performances, research labs, or public projects, CMA is redefining how creative technologies can shape the future of media, culture, and society.
